Hey everybody,
Hydroplaneing down the freeway isn't a whole lot of fun, so it's time to throw some new tires on the 90 20v quattro; stock size is 195/60 r14 but I was wondering about putting some 195/65 r14 in there to fill up the wheel well a bit. I need a good all-season/performance tire, at a decent price.
On the low end, I'm looking at some wal-mart cheapies for $306 including maintenance/repair. Opposite the spectrum, I'm looking at some Zexus 427xi's for $460 w/ warrenty & maintenance from Les Schwab.
I'm looking for an 89H or better rubber compound.
Thanks for any help in advance!

I just put a set of Pirelli P4 4 seasons on my B4, and so far I love em. 195/65/15, and I think right in the middle of your price range. I ordered them off Tire Rack and I think they were ranked second for all season tires. Loads of grip, really low road noise, and what looks like a tread design that should be great in the snow (but I haven't got to test that yet). I can tell you they are great in the rain and should solve your hydroplaning issue easy.

Both tires you mentioned are made in China, quality control I would not trust even if they are dirt cheap.
Check out tirerack for some good deals on quality tires. Some rebates around right now on Dunlop and other brands
check tiresbyweb, tires-easy and discounttiredirect and just compare prices.
