Default Strange thing. My car seems to have more torque when the engine isn't quite

warmed up yet -- when it's at about 80 Celcius it actually seems to pull better starting at 2500 RPM -- it's really noticable in 2nd, at 2500 or higher and you give it gas it really pulls. When it's warm it's probably about the same over 3000 RPM, hard to say since I'm quite gentle until the engine is hot, but under 3000 RPM it's more sluggish. Or does it just FEEL more slugglish for some reason? It seems to be breathing better when it's not hot yet.

I was thinking maybe it's because the engine isn't hot enough to heat up the air under the hood so cooler air is helping it to breath better, but even when it's hot, i'm moving on the road and the air is cool/cold outside and I've removed the plastic shield underneath the engine compartment to get more air movement through there so I don't think hot air should be such a factor bogging the engine down. Any ideas, comments?

Default Remember during cold startup.....

... the engine management is adding more fuel to the mixture to improve combustion with the denser cold air untill the engine is considered "warm".

Default HOT AIR/COLD AIR

GET A HEAT SHIELD. I MADE MINE OUT OF 1/2 INCH ABS PLASTIC. SEALED COMPLETELY TO HOODLINING, TO BODY ON SIDE, AND ALL WAY TO HEADLIGHT UP FRONT...COVERED OUTSIDE PARTS FACING ENGINE/EXHAUST COMPONENTS WITH THERMOTEC... SILVER REFLECTIVE MATERIAL. I ALSO DRILLED A 3 INCH HOLE IN BOTTOM SECTION OF HEAT SHIELD, ADDED SOME FLEXIBLE TUBING AND MADE IT DROP DOWN TO THE LOWER GRILLE, RIGHT NEXT TO FOGLIGHT WHERE I ADDED A SNORKEL PIECE(LOOKS LIKE VACUUM ATTACHMENT). IT HELPS A LOT. ESPECIALLY IN SUMMER. IVE COMPARED INTAKE TEMPS SURROUNDING CONE IN SUMMER WITH AND WITHOUT BOX AND THERE IS GREATER THAN A 40 DEGREE CHANGE.
