So I'm working on a list for the impending head gasket job ( I'm pretty sure I need ). Some items are "might as well do"
HEAD
valve cover gasket; oil check valves; new head bolts; breaker bar; special head bolt sockets; cam locking or locating thingy?; cam shaft oil seals, front and rear; exhaust gasket; intake gasket; head gasket.
INTAKE MANIFOLD
IM valley gasket; oil check valves; IM gasket for the two seperate parts; allen wrench with whatever sized drive end.
FRONT OF ENGINE
timing belt; idler pulley; grooved belt; t-stat; waterpump; front main seal?; oh, t-stat housing and gasket?.
FLUIDS
degreaser; anti-freeze; distilled water; toyota engine assembly goo(wicked good stuff dude).
Oh and a crank locking pin...
What else?
P.S. not interested in porting and polishing or modifying stuff.
Thank you for investing your time.

a seal & gasket "kit"?
Which contains all the seals you need, and is often less expensive...

Blue book trade in value on my car is 2,300.00. Roughly. It is obvious that the strut mounts are shot and the exhaust needs attention there goes a couple bucks off the trade in value and if I were going to trade in the vehicle it is possible that they would find out about the head gasket problem plus I don't like to unload my problems onto others and I am also a horrible liar so after that I am left with what I paid for the tires and the new oil filter for a trade in value. In short I looked at the numbers and any new car that I could barely afford would not meet my standars for cars and going into hock for another older car that I would just have to go through again doesn't make sense to me after thinking about it. So I'll deal with what I have and do the best at maintaining and repairing the audi with intetions of driving it for awhile and keep my options open... P.S. I already have a bimmer. 1975 2002 that is in dire need of attention and purchasing a cheap new car would without a doubt keep money away from it and buying another older car (that I would enjoy driving 26,000 miles a year in) would take money and time so, ****, keep the audi and face the demads of car ownership.
