Default Sub frame bushings?

Does anybody know what the replacement interval for sub frame bushings is; I have 235,000 miles on my 90Q and have replaced everything in the suspension (including the C/V shafts) but not the sub frame bushings and the car is still wandering on the highway. What do they do? How do you tell when there warn? And how much does it cost to replace them? Lastly, is there anyone besides and Audi dealership that can do them in New England?

Howdy! Are you running oversized wheels/tires? I know in my experience with several 16" setups that these cars will tramline (follow dips/cracks in the highway) massively when running these wider tires. My 80t that was lowered and running 225/40 16" wandered quite a bit, everything in the suspension was new, including subframe bushings. When the 185/70 snow tires went on the wandering went away 100%. Another suggestion is to check the steering rack. Grab the end where the two tie rods meet the end of the rack, twist the end up and down, if you have excessive endplay the rack may need to replaced, been through this before as well. If there is any endplay the toe changes as the rack rotates up and down, watched this on an alignment machine, threw the toe from in spec to out of spec with a small twist!

If you have a later '89-'90 model you will have an adjustment on the rack, this can be tightened to solve that endplay, but early models do not and require replacement.

Cheers,
