Default Sway bar question

I just got my new control arms on and was wondering the best way to get the sway bar on. I was out in the cold last night for 2 hours trying to get it on but to no avail. The car was not raised when I tried to do it so that may be part of the problem. I would be able to get one end on and then the bar would shift in that direction so I would have to yank the bar the other way in order to get it closer to the other link. I just can't seem to get them to connected. I need your help guys...I'm trying to take my car down to Cinci for the holidays. Any advice appreciated. Thanks guys and Happy Holidays!!!!

Default First, it helps a lot to have the car jacked...

Install one side first, but don't tighten the nuts all the way down. Jack up the other side so that the tire is off the ground, this should give you some extra room to pull the link in the direction you need it to go. Line it up with the hole by pulling on it and either slowly lower the car back down, letting the link settle into the hole, or jack the wheel under the ball joint, lifting it and causing the link to go through the hole. Install the hardware on that side, make sure the threads are fully engaged before moving any jacks. Once you're at this point, just tighten the rest of the hardware and you're done.

Default It should be easiest when the car is NOT lifted...

That way all the mounting points are at the proper altitudes for the links to line up. I'm assuming you're talking about your front end, which is similar to the rear end of my coupe (stamped control arms with holes for the swaybar links). I put a 4000 swaybar on it with the car sitting on the ground, no problem.

If the car is jacked up, both control arms will hang too low and it will be hard to make everything reach.

The best method is to not tighten anything until you have everything connected. If you tighten one end, you might not have enough play to move the other end much.

But, if you are struggling, it might help to attach one end, then use a jack under the other side to adjust the car up and down until the holes line up. This method works well for the later cars with links that attach to the strut tubes, since the holes you're aiming for are horizontal, not near-vertical.
