I have a 98 cab and it came with a switchblade key/remote that is in really bad shape and never worked.
I actually have a few questions to ask:

1. I'm wondering if anyone knows a way to tell if it is the remote that is broken or the a part within the car.
2. If it is the remote could I buy one with a trunk release button on it even though my factory remote didn't have one.
3. Would I need to get the key cut or could I switch the remote section of one from ebay with my factory key section?

I might have a good slightly used remote for you. All of the buttons are in tact and in good working order.
