Default Test Drive: Results Unexpected.....

I know this is a tad off topic, but I wanted to share some thoughts.

My cousin wanted a brand new car, something with a wagon back and all wheel drive with a manual trans. He asked me to come with, so I did. I naturally suggested the A3, but the quattro models won't come out until a few months from now. He had a list of three cars he wanted to test drive.

Audi A3
Subaru WRX Wagon
Volvo V50.
Uh, wait a minute, a Volvo?? OOOOOH Kay.

We first went to test the A3. Although a Front Trak, it was a great car. It would be even better in quattro form. We both liked it a lot.

We next went to drive the WRX. Fast, but it felt like the tin can my brother-in-law owns (2002 WRX). An interesting toy to drive around, but I couldn't drive it on a daily basis.

Lastly, and the least expectation, we went to see the V50. I had never seen one, but when I did, my thoughts on Volvo styling changed(not so boxy). I looked at the specs and it's a 2.3 5 cyl 20V turbo AWD wagon 6 speed. To spec, it's kind of like a RS2 with urS4 specs. Needless to say, I was impressed by this car, from interior to the drivability. My cousin ended up buying it, a silver, black leather V50 T-5 AWD 6 Speed.

I am not saying I am going to sell my Audis and go Volvo, but Subaru isn't the only viable alternative, Volvo seems to be in the game.

http://www.volvocars.us/Showroom/V50/Photo_Gallery/Exterior/</a

Default Looks like it has the WRX Specs (4cyl 2.0L 227hp) not a boxer engine though...

Actually, I really resembles a WRX. I might have to go see how it drives. Probably like the WRX, where as the Volvo drove more like the Audi.

Default i remember my second experience driving in a Volvo with driver having

to open the window and pour windshield liquid in the Minnesota winter.
The first one though was of riding in a 1978 240 back home in Eastern Europe in 1998 and think how well the car survived 20 years.
