Default Re: Yeah...Im agreeing that Quattro is neato...

In the dry, stock for stock, FWD 90 will outrun a quattro 90 in a straight line. However the quattro will outhandle the FWD everywhere else. Quattro allows you to power out sooner or even through an entire curve to counteract understeering tendencies.

Also the more horsepower you are making, the greater the advantage of quattro becomes.

Default The difference on the newer cars is even less due to advancements in materials technology.

On an A4 1.8T 5spd, the difference between quattro and FWD is only 166lbs.

Default If you're looking for an easily moddable car, look elsewhere.

Naturally aspirated tuning on the Audi 2.8 12 valve engine is time consuming and expensive.

At minimum, you'd want:

Replace extremely restrictive stock exhaust system with a true dual exhaust.

Cowl induction air intake--cut hole in firewall with rotozip and install intake in bulkhead between engine bay and passenger compartment. The 2.8 12v throttle body is conveniently located for this mod and it has been done on a A4 2.8 12v. Remove stock airbox and relocate battery to under rear passenger seat.

Ported throttle body.

Cams.

Stock output is 172hp so you could concievably end up with 200hp at the crank after all this. It's not cheap though.

I've driven 2wd vs. AWD back to back in the snow and I can assure you that FWD = crap.

Default and RWD in the snow is so much better than FWD?

From my experience ... RWD is alot worse in the snow than FWD. Not everyone has snowy winters. Obviously AWD is better in the snow than anything else.
