Default Timing belt MESS

Hi everyone

Today I started to work on the car to replace the PS pump since it was leaking like hell and there was PS fluid all over the engine. I took out the pump. The shaft seems OK but it is probably the seal since the whole thing is in fluid and dirt.
Then i decided to look at the T-belt. I open the covers and what do i see - the belt and everything inside is full of PS fluid. DAMN. So now i think this is really dangerous. My T-belt is ok, since it was replaced recently.
Is it possible to spray some degreaser in order to klean this mess or i have to take it down and clean everything piece by piece. Do i need to replace the belt again?

Default Re: Timing belt........

PS oil is not good to get onto the timing belt.

To be on the safe side, I would recommend to have the belt changed as soon as possible.

What state do you live in?

Default NJ Mik

Damn I have to change it. How likely is to break one of the damper bolts if the whole thing is soaked in oil?

Default Yeah New Jersey Mik ;O)

Thanks for the picture. I am talking about the ribbed accessory belt tensioner.

That does not have anything to do with the timing belt mess - it's different story.

Where are you Mike? What state
