Tire size
#12
I'm running 235's and according to the guy that put them on, the fit was excellent.
I was concerned at first, but he said it was perfectly fine, and I've had no problems over the last 8,000 miles.

Notice the quotation marks around the word "cannot". There is ALWAYS a caveat.
But generally, a tire that will actually fit a given wheel will only change the shape of the contact patch, making it narrower and longer or wider and shorter.
If you really wanted, I could take a drag slick with tall side walls on a 15" wheel and make it have the same rolling radius as my old VW Rabbit's 13", and it'd have a HUGELY different contact patch area. But, that wasn't what I was talking about. I'm talking about one wheel size with different width/aspect ratio combinations that will physically fit the wheel/car properly.

of course we are talking about staying within reason...
and what you actually might do. If I put 20" tires on on VW Rabbit, that would not makes sense-or even be possible. In that case you would expect some strange results, not many of which would be positive. I quess I am speaking from experience when we would put 225/50 16's on cars like 84' Scirocco's and 86 VW GTI's that were <105hp and did not see negative results. I don't recall what the original tire sizes were, back then the upgraded wheel from the factory was a 14"-i could be wrong I don't really remember or have time to research it.
