Default Yeah, if they don't develop a crack, they can leak around the sensor on the bottom...

...feel the lowest point on the tank, see if it's wet/dripping...hot or cold (be careful when hot ;o) )

Oh, and the little hose coming in on the front of the tank - that nipple like to crack/come apart too...BTDT.

Default Searched and found a dead link to a flush and fill procedure. Has this

doc moved somewhere else, or is there another good how-to on that?

http://www.mnsi.net/~natwhite/Audi/Coolant%20Flush%20&%20Fill%20Procedure.htm

I'm reading that there is a trick to flushing the block, but I haven't found what the trick is, jsut this link. Also looking for the location of the block drain plug on a 12v v6.

Thanks

Default just flush from the radiator drain while car is cool

make sure to open the expansion tank cap to allow the air pressure to push it out. There is a engine drain, but I never do that. I think Nate got that from an Audi procedure but I just fill again with some water, let the car run, get hot, shut if off, let it cool, and drain again from the radiator. Then fill properly with coolant and water mix 50/50.

Default According to MikTip you don't get all of it out if you don't drain it out of the block...

...I always do...it's a pain to get to, but, I've heard it's worth it...so...

Default its a major pain!

then it doesn't really drain well too. Or at least it looks like its gonna splash all over. I just flush out til I see clear water coming thru.

Default Uh ohs, I gave up and grabbed the yellow bottle from autozone...

(same problem as him, very small coolant leak)

I think I bought "peak" but not sure, I looked at ALL of the brands/kinds and this one said good for all kinds (yeah right) *shrugs* I guess we will see...

I had bright green fluid in there, and the new stuff is more yellow, but yeah i know that the colors don't entirely matter, as they can always "look" different.
