Default i used to bike a lot.
i will have to post a pic of my bike. it's pretty nice, that was "the cool thing" to have a nice bike, that was before i got my license. i'm 18 so a few years back.

my bike: 1998 Gary Fisher Joshua Z1
Spin wheels, michelin wildgripper hots tires, titecl hellbent riser bars, topo bar ends, THE front fender, time atac clipless pedals, SRAM 9.0 drivetrain all around. Manitou xvert fork, rock shox coupe deluxe rear.

Default Just let me bring out my cyclocross bike.
then I'll follow you pretty damm well.
clipless pedals regardless of terrain or bike. hell, I even use SPD's for cyclocross racing in the mud.

You always need clipless pedals, unless you are doing crazy downhill dual slalom.
