Default Coil is not a weak point on these cars.

Just replace the cap with a new factory piece, along with the rotor and plugs (Bosch W7DTC, triple electrode coppers). Wires, stock are more than adequate for most things, otherwise look at Magnecore's 7 and 8mm wire sets. The 8.5mm and 10mm are totally overkill.

If you can find a Jamex (ya-mex) lower air filter housing, that'd eliminate that spot of restriction (it is an aluminum frame with a triple layer foam open element filter). Or, just remove the warm-air inlet crap and duct the opening forward.

Biggest thing you can do cheaply and easily is a cam, Blau's 272 is reportedly not as aggressive as most other 272 cams (Elgin, Schrick, etc), so it won't give a lopey idle, but also won't gain quite as much as the others. After that, do an exhaust from the cat back. No larger than a 2.5" pipe. Beyond that, you'd have to pull the head and manifolds and have them worked on.
