I'm new to this board. Any help is always appreciated with me.

I've been having a problem with my battery voltage lately. The car will start and run fine all the time. When I turn on accessories, it stars to lower battery voltage. At startup and with no accessories on, the indicator goes above 12volts. When I start to put things on it steadily goes down. I never let it go down to the point of below 11volts so I don't know if it will die on me or not.

I figured this was an alternator problem so I took it out and had it rebuilt by a shop. Put it back in and guess what? Same problem. Does my car have an external voltage regulator or anything. Oh yeah. Battery is a brand new Optima Red Top.

I thought about shorts and other things, but the battery isn't drained with the car off.

You need to verify that the guage is correct by checking the voltage with a multimeter.
