Default what causes excessive center tread wear on a tire other than overinflation?

I noticed that the center of the tread on my two front tires is wearing more rapidly than anywhere else.

This is usually diagnosed as over-inflation. But my tires aren't overinflated nor do they have a history of being so. I've been at ~32psi on 205/55/16s.

Can you think of any other causes?

Thanks,
Dave

Someone is secretly shaving off the center tread while you are sleeping.
