that I can re-torque the heads to fix a couple of seeping gaskets?

What's the torque spec. for those bolts?

how old are the bolts? usually they are "use once and destroy," but there may be a spec given in Bentley for re-use parameters.

yours are different than mine, so i can't answer the question completely.

Howdy! The head bolts are stretch bolts, once they are torqued it's all over for them. You'll notice that the torquing procedure has a finish with a 1/4 turn, if I remember correctly off hand. This means you reach a torque level, then when you finish with the 1/4 turn the threads reach their designed stress limit, thus they "stretch." This is done so all the bolts get even torque. Whenever you see a torque spec that involves a finishing with a 1/4 turn you're dealing with a stretch bolt.

replace all the bolts without removing the head? I guess if it doesn't fix the leak, it'll waste a set of bolts...
