I do admit it's got lag.
But that is how our cars will always be.
Have you seen the dyno graph of the 2.6 stroker UrS4? I have it, if you want me to mail it to you. Increasing the displacement will help, but single turbo 20v AAN's will still be a somewhat laggy, peaky, motor. On the other hand, the 2.7T bi-turbos do not suffer as much lag. I'm tempted by them. But I'll wait a few more years till they start dropping like flies in value.
