What should I do to prepare my car for a long road trip? Also, a few ?'s about TDL.

I'm driving with friends about 2,600 miles from Boston, MA to Calgary, Alberta (and back the same distance). We'll go to BC too and maybe Vancouver. Other than doing oil before and after, any other recommendations?
I'm actually a bit worried because about 1-2 weeks before leaving, I should be getting a bunch of things from TDL installed. Here's the list: Schrick 272 cams, ported throttle body, TDL ported and comp. assembled heads, new lifters and seals, and I think that's it. Should I be worried about reliability with these mods?
Btw, does anyone know if cold starting is more difficult with 272 degree cams?
Thanks,
Mike

Well, for the first 1,000 miles, you should probably not rev the car too hard. And once you hit 1,000, you need to do an oil change.
Think of it as a mini break-in for your engine.
Other than that, you shouldn't have any reliability issues if the shop installs things correctly. Be sure to take the bottom engine cover off once or twice (or leave it off for a week) before your trip to check for any leaks that may occur.

the whole exhaust has to come out and then the gearbox has to come out or something and then the seal has to be replaced. I'm told I might as well do a clutch in the process. What is it, like 6 hours of labor? $1000??? Any ideas?

Not intending to add insult to injury:
Ya might as well do all the gearbox seals too, while its out of the car, and their very easy
to get at! ;o)
To do the rear seal, the flywheel needs to come off, so your gonna need "new" flywheel bolts. Reusing to old ones is a bad idea.
Rear gearbox mounts might as well be changed too.
Plus anything else you can get at, easier now that the gearbox is out.
You will be able to see the back of the engine, which often reveals more items in need of repair after 7+ years of service! ;o)
