What are these things?

I suppose you ain't got extra gauges? Then those are the wiring for the senders.

since the two sender wires are on a separate harness to the power for the guages, maybe they are retrofit guages and someone didn;t use the orignal sender harness..

check the wiring to your senders and see if its a part of the car harness...
