The 012 is a Front Wheel Drive 5spd.
The 01A came out in the first 2nd Gen quattro cars, IE the B3 generation 80 series starting in 1987 for 1988. Meaning that Lyonelll's 20vq has an 01A ;-)
BTW, all 80/90 series quattro cars with a 5spd manual use an 01A, from 1987 to 1995 build dates. Biggest difference between them besides gear ratios is the input shaft due to a difference in the pilot bearings and such (at least for the 20v versions of the 01A, forget what the 10v'ers used).
