Default What's your shift pattern? Is my clutch okay?

I'm curious about a good shift pattern for my 7A 20 valver. I drive pretty conservative shifting under normal accelleration between 3000-3500rpm......should I rev it higher? Is it correct that the 7A's are not speed burners off the line? normal acceleration you seem to have to get on it to get speed up,.....not a lot of torque at the low gears...except when you floor it! I'm inquiring because I've never had a 20 valver till now. I was told that my clutch "might" be on it's way out...,it's not slipping, that I can tell, but it is at the top of pedal. My mechanic told me it should be pulling harder on acceleration. The engine/clutch have 164K. The car does runs fantastic! It runs about 3000rpm/65mph....is that about right? Blah, blah, blah!! LOL

You would know if your clutch was bad. I don't think you have anything to worry about. Yes these motors need to be wound out to really get going.
