Default Wheel Question ("Hubcentric Ring")

Okay so I e-mailed this wheel distributor to see if I could get the BBS RX wheel for the Ford Focus to fit my car by means of a hubcentric ring because the hub size is different. You guys said before that this shouldn't be a problem right? Well apparently it is....here is my message and the response I got.

"Hi,
Thanks for the response. This message is actually in regards to the wheels hub size. I actually own an '89 Audi 90 Quattro but it uses the same bolt pattern, offset and lug size, however my Audi has a 57.1 mm hub size. So I need a hub-centric ring "adapter" to adapt the Fords 63.5mm, to my Audi's 57.1mm. Do/could you sell these with your wheels? If so how much? Oh, and what are your shipping rates to the California Bay Area? Thanks so much!

Chris Leydig"

And the response:

"I contacted BBS about the fitment on this car - the wheel for the focus can not be made hub centric for your car ,it is made hub centric for the focus and will not accept a hub ring he also told me that you may have to run awheel spacer for caliper clearance on your car freight would cost $ 18.50 per wheel to CA

Have any of you ever heard of this happeneing before? I thought that the adapter wouldn't be a problem. Should I order them anyway?

Default if it can't fit a ring, then you're screwed, but i can't see why it

can have a new ring

Default Some wheels come with a straight bore

for the hub area. Then they fight a hubcentric ring for various cars. This allows the manufacturer to makes one wheel to fit many cars. When a wheel is cast hubcentric for a particular car, the ring cast into it may only be 5 to 10mm thick. Then once past this centric, it widens. There may not be enough material to hang a new ring on vs. if the bore was just straight.
