Default they are made of plastic now instead of metal.

I just picked up a spare the other day(tirerack) for my borbets, the original 57mm spacers are aluminum, now they are plastic.
hats off to tirerack, they had my order out the door within 15 minutes and it took a mear 2 days to get the package. they then overpackaged the spacer! Amazing quality and practices.

Default Depends on the manufacturer - the OZ-specific ones are metal...

...even have a wire clip around them which pops into the wheel - don't fall out/off when rotating tires & such.
