when did they change the door pockets to these?

is that perhaps a cabrio? or maybe a picture from Europe... I don't know if coupe's ever got that
new door card style in North America.

US ETKA only shows the normal small pockets all the way across for a CQ...
...'90 or '91...
Definitely a part for the Cab though - perhaps something to do with the pax. side airbag - as that's when they appeared in B4 sedans like that.
ETKA does make reference to how it goes in cars with airbags (assumably pax.) in the cab diagram.

I think the engineers working on the driver side forgot to talk to the engineers working on the
passenger side.
My coupe is like that too. At first I thought previous owner had replaced just the driver's side. Was releaved to find out it was made that way, and then I was a little confused as to why.
