This time its a "new stye" adjustable FPR. My testing has shown I can get from 0-128psi (0-8.7bar) adjustability with some custom stainless springs I had made up a few months back just for this purpose.
The pic shows 4 stock Bosch 4bar FPR's in lower right of pic. The bottom/left one has had been bored out and had its OD turned ready to accept the new sleeve body while the bottom/right one has only had its vac stem removed via a very thin Dremel cut-off wheel. Both of these will later be threaded and screwed back into the new aluminum pressed-on body with cooling fins milled into it.
The thing that will make this FPR different from all others I've done is this one will have a click-detents and a straight knurl applied to the outside edge of a billet adjustment **** for the spring loaded detent lever to snick into the knurl valleys. I'm shooting for 44 detents around the **** and I already know that with the SS adjustment screw thread pitch I'm using that will give me right at 1/4psi fuel pressure increases per click between 3bar & 5bar. I'll also have my 0-100psi fuel rail mounted pressure gauge for confirmation.
The biggest plus with this setup is no tools whatsoever to adjust fuel pressures up or down. No jam nut that has to be loosened/retightened before/after every adjustment. No allen wrench to turn the adjustment screw. Just open the hood give it a click or two by hand either direction, close the hood & go. What I give up with this setup is "infinate" adjustability tho I'm doubting 1/4psi will ever cause much grief.
This pic also shows my "certified" pressure guage I use in the manifold I CNC'd to check FPR pressures. It is N.I.S.T. certified to measure 1/1000psi from 0-100psi within +/- .5% accuracy. Overkill for FPRs but as always, far better to have it and not need it than need it even once and not have it!
I'll get more pics of these up as they progress
