Default All that lit includes is Shrader valve adapters, a fill hose and some oiled 134a

It dosen't include the Viton O-rings needed and then you should replace the dryer, the o-tube, flush the system, deal with numerous leaks.

I responed to your post above but I ended up swaping out everything but the evaporator.

Default Um...regardless of the system, the leak should be fixed prior to charging.

12 is a more efficient cooler.

Default I agree. R12 is WAYYYY better than R134a

Sitting in my Audi with R134a versus my friend's 1988 IROC, I can feel a HUGE difference. His car is like sitting in a freezer with it on max.

I converted to Duracool a couple of years ago and loved the results. Inexpensive (~$30) and easy.

Default Strong argument.

Do you detect the sarcasm?

I can tell you from first hand experience that retrofitting this particular system to R134a results in better performance than the baselines in the Audi repair manual for R12.

You can do what you want with your efficiency theories - I'll go with my cold AC filled with cheap refrigerant.

Default Kit? A/C compressor on my 90 was shot...,

bought a rebuild compressor from Hancock industries, replaced the orifice tube and the orings, replaced the receiver dryer, installed a used condenser, vacuumed the system with a compressor driven vacuum for 30 min ( high and low side), installed about 3 small cans of 134 with oil/sealer and have 38F air coming out of my vents with CC head set to "Lo"...that was about a month ago...

The _only_ way someone can convince me that R12 is better is for me to do a side by side comparison on the same car...any other comparison is apples vs oranges - if your system is marginal, you AC isn't going to perform optimally.

PERIOD.
