Default Why is my check engine light coming on? I know the only way to know for sure is run the codes....

but---I have a new egr valve, new O2 sensors and thermostat.
The light only comes on when the car is going on the open road, not in stop and go traffic, and happens when the temperature guage moves from cold to the normal operating temperature.
If I turn the car off and re-start it the light doesn't come back on.
Is anyone familiar with this behavior or have a guess?

Default Vag Coms are great tools...

Dont have a lap top to run it off of, but a few friends of mine have them. Great not being dependant on the dealer.

Uwe is a great guy. I remember him from years ago when he just started importing GIAC chips into europe.

Default Run the DTC code read-out. See 12V.org for procedure which uses a jumper wire (No VAGCOM needed)more

Did the mechanic clean out the EGR passage inside the intake manifold?? If not, you are probably setting the EGR code 2411 (I think that the #), which typically will set off the MIL light as the engine warms up as you are driving.
