The geezer in the shop said they will fit Audi, Mercedes and VW. Do they look about right? Their size is 3½". I'll have a go at fitting them soon.

I did a big mistake while I was taking the photos... without thinking I put the speakers right in-front of my monitor... oops! It was all weird colours (<i>see below</i>), untill I decided to press <i>Degauss</i> on my monitor. "Ting" it went, and all back to normal!

...on my Coupe, I put really nice, expensive
speakers in the dash (4-inch) and had 6.5 inch
put in the back; same stock locations where the
old ones were. They were component speakers, so
the tweeters went into the far back where the small
original speakers were.
Sounds great... in the back. The front speakers
sound lousy. Couple of reasons for this:
1. The dash speakers are way to small to put out
any good sound, especially through the stock
plastic grill, plus they face straight up.
2. If you don't crossover the frequency points
correctly, the fronts get full-range and they
distort the lower frequencies they can't handle.
The solution:
Get a GOOD 4-channel amp and a good crossover
network. Put 6-inch woofers in the doors (yes,
they will have to be custom fit) and put the
tweeters where the stock dash speakers went.
Do the same for the rear, as described above.
Hope this helps!

I'm replacing the dash speakers with the 3½" two way drivers I bought today, Inifity 3052cf. These will be fed from my head unit, Alpine MDA 7755r. The rear speakes will be disconnected. In there place I have a set of Clarion 6"x9" speakers, SRX6983. They will be housed in a custom built rear shelf. The 6"x9"'s will be fed from a two channel, 300w per channel (at 4 Ohms) JVC amp. That was my friends, I bought it cheap off him. Then I plan having that amp on display in a custom boot install, all matching carpet and the amp will be under a clear cover, and this will also hide the CD changer.

It's going to be VERY tight!! The magnet may be to big to fit in the small opening for them!! Like I said, it will be tight!!
Based on the pictures, I would say that they will NOT fit without some modification!!
I hope I'm wrong!! Good Luck!!

I am an audiophile/videophile and I spent _A_LOT_ of time looking for replacement speakers for my fronts. I listened to dozen's of 4" speakers since I didn't want to do any cutting in my vehicle. I heard a lot of speakers and when I finally heard the ID CTX-4's my jaw literally hit the floor. They cost 3x more than your average 4" speaker but the money you save on installation and extra speakers (that you would have had to install in your doors) is well worth it. Everyone that hears these speakers always asks if I have speakers in the doors because they have _AMAZING_ midbass and midrange response that you cannot believe you are hearing a 4" speaker.
If you have a chance to hear them do it. I promise you will NOT be disappointed.
(No, I do not work for Image Dynamics nor do I own any stake in their company)
