The wire that connects to gauge itself and the oil pressure sender was just dangling in the engine bay when I put my gauges last year. I never though of cleaning it when I hooked it up to my 2 prong oil pressure sender.
When I had the wires off the sender, I noticed that one (the one I was talking about above) was pretty dirty, maybe even had a little rust on it. I used my wire brush and contact cleaner on the end fitting and hooked everything back up. Now it doesn't jump around at idle NEARLY as much as it did before. Everything seems pretty smooth now.
You can get pretty easy access to the sender with the wheel off, under tray off, and drivers side of the car jacked up.
