As promised I visited a friend w/sport pkg tonight. Then I realized he has coilovers too. Pretty dumb eh. Well, I stopped at DonRosen and took out the tape measure.
From what I saw on stock A3s, 26.25 to 26.50" ride height w/sport pkg.
My set up is: 225 x 40 - 18 x 8 et 42. I am not telling anyone to get any specific offset. Only reporting my experience.
When I was stock. I never rubbed once with et 42. Once I dropped. I had to remove the screws in the wheel well. Also, I frequently travel with the entire cargo area filled to the roof with dj gear. No issues with rubbing. Granted, I'm not driving like a nut. But still, I never drive slow, even with the full load of equipment.
Now, when the seats are in the upright position, everyone has their seatbelts on and personal electronic devices turned off... the boost gauge hits 21#. Very very rarely, in a tricky and off-camber turn - at speed, I rub. Not enough to bother even ****-me. And certainly not enough rubbing to expect someone with a factory sport suspension to rub with the identical offset.
When I get wheels again, I will shop for both 42 and 45 offset. I have no issues with getting a 42 again.
Here are a few photos that show evidence that I'm not completely slammed, but below sport. Front pic'd first, then Rear:

And for scotchy, some additional photos of silver mirrors guarding lava gray, the fastest color on an A3 to date
I too, was hesitant at first. It took me almost 2 years to give in. But now that I have, I wish I had silver mirrors earlier. Love them.
