brother...not that his lack of posts automatically disqualifies him from knowing anything. i am aware of the the two haldex systems...but the 3.2 liter v6 is longitunally mounted is it not? therefore it needs the torsen system. since we are making vague generalizations based on what chasis number we own then all you b5 people must have a serious inferiority complex because it seems all you do is troll the boards looking for people to flame. get a life buddy.

because I am an audi parts consultant, the details of these cars are my daily life. I am expected to know or be able to decipher VINs PR/equipment codes, production ranges engine/trans/diff codes and a whole bunch of other esoteric shyt that you've probably never encountered. On a daily basis I probably handle more parts than you see a year. The only forum on this site that arguably is outside of my realm of interest is the A2 forum.
So which 3.2 "V6" are you talking about? There are several VAG six cylinder 3.2L engines in current production. There are VR6 longitudinal engines and VR6 transverse engines... then there are true 90 degree V audi engines which are the evolution of the 078 engine blocks much like the one found in my B5. True V6 engines are only longitudinally mounted and are used only with torsen based gearboxes for AWD applications.
The VR6 engines are found in the phaeton in europe, Touareg here, Cayenne here and possibly in the coming Q7 but who knows for what nation spec. Those are all longitudinal VR6 3.2 engines. There are also a few cars that get a simmilar 3.2 VR6 but in a transverse mount form, the TT 3.2, R32, A3 3.2. These are all VR6 engines... traditionally a VW engine not an audi engine.
The true V6 with a 90* angle is for longitudinal use only this engine is found in the B7 A4, C6 A6 and possibly in any other B, C or D chassis that can accept it... the Touareg/Cayenne/Q7 chassis can most likely accept this engine aswell since it can accept the chain drive V8... the 3.2 V6 is simmilar in some ways to the chain drive V8s.

however it shares NOTHING in common with the 3.2 VR6. The 3.2 FSI V6 is NOT a VR6 it is a traditional audi V6 the sort that has been built by audi since about 1991.

the techs need therefore you know everything? I am sorry i was mistaken i was under the impression that the AUDI A3 was getting the v6 from the other chasis not the vr6 therefore i thought it would use the torsen diff. i know about transverse and longitudinal engine mounting my man. keep living in your dreamworld buddy cause its the only place you seem to be making a point. I had an a4 2.8 as well I remember you being a know it all in those forums as well, good to see things havnt changed. I had a job like yours once filing service reports funny the parts guys at my dealership didnt act like this. btw if you wanna learn more check this site out...

and yes, I know that in europe they are considered 3.2L engines bla bla bla, but in the states without european regulations the 3123 cc engines are only 3.1L engines... in esence there is only one 3.2L engine - the VR6 from VW in the R32, TT 250, and upcoming A3 3.2 for the states.
