Just a few days ago Erik Smart said in a post, that he felt cheated as he bought a 110 bhp diesel just before the 115 bhp engine was introduced and hasn't been notified of such an update by his Audi dealer. But if what I have recently read is correct, he should have a big smile on his face nowadays.
The magazine claims, that "Volkswagen has recalled a total of 3600 Golf, Bora and Passat models because of a piston problem in the new 1.9lt diesel engine. The engine will be completely changed (a 6 hour operation) under warranty."
Erik, you are one lucky man...

(Ravenx, Sorry to post a reply to your post, I don't get the option for composing a new message.)
What I want to ask is:
Does anyone know the difference between Audi 1.8 Non Turbo Engine and the VW Golf 2.0 Engine? Is one more quiet than the other? Better take off? Has anyone driven the Golf 2.0L and compared it with the A3 1.8?
Here in Australia, the Golf was sold with the 1.8 5V engine, but now this is no longer being sold. They are marketing the Golf 2.0 as being better even though it seems to be an older generation 8 valve engine.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Why would VW change after 12 months worth of 1.8 Golf sales to this engine? I think it is the same one that is sold in the North American market.
Thanks,
John
