I just finished the first leg of my journey, Edinburgh, Scotland to Nuremberg, Germany via Paris. We had 3 people in the car and about 55 kilos of luggage. The journey from Calais to Nuremberg is about 700 miles over flat country leading to foothills. This took 2 tanks of petrol. Speed varied from 80mph to 100mph over distance and returned an average consumption of 29mpg (UK gallons).
Today, I drive from Nuremberg to Genova through the Alps, about 450 miles. I will post again when I get around to it...also, will attempt to take some photos...

I lived in Ansbach Germany, about 45min south of Nuremberg. Would love to see some shots of the old days... GREAT roads in Bavaria! Get off the Autobahn and have some fun on the farm roads. 100km/h on little country roads is a blast. Just watch out for farm tractors!
