Default 2.0T - is it a real oil burner?

Low oil light came on after only 3,800KM (2400 miles) - after a complete oil change and top-up.

I know these cars burn oil but that sounds like a lot?

Appreciate your experiences ....

they want everyone to think its normal but its not. if its eating that amount of oil imagine what it will do to catalitic converters which are as expensive as transmissions.

we should all start a forum and start a class action. this is not normal and the mere fact that dealers pass this on as normal is unacceptable. there was a recall with some 2.0T having faulty piston rings but that was for certain VIN ranges. i believe that its a design defect. if you count all the forums and start reading them alot of people complain about this. it was my mistake i didnt research the model before i switched over. BMWs and Mercedes never had this problem with thier cars. its insane if they will say that this is normal. we paid a premium for a premium car. are they telling us that Audi is a premium brand but it eats alot of oil and our engines are noisy to the point that they sound like diesels at idle? is this really a premium brand? sure i love the features and the comfort of the seats, but is they will just brush off these problems no wonder why they are so far behind in sales here in the US. to be honest, this might be my first and last Audi. i have owned BMWs and a Mercedes. if i knew it had these problems with oil consumption and they just brush it off as normal, i wouldnt have bothered considering the brand

Absolutely not normal. I had 2006 A3 with DSG and after 15,000 miles it started consuming 1 quart of oil for every 1000 miles. At the dealership they said it is ok, which I took their word for it. In 2009 I replaced the A3 with 2006 A4 6MT and I didn't have to put an extra drop of oil so far (50 k on it now). I assume both cars have identical 2.0 L engines so they should act in a similar way even with different transmissions.

strange - your manual explicitly states that every engine is different and it is normal to consume up to 1qt/1000mi. Did you have any problems related to the burning oil?

I just don't know how to explain such a huge difference between literally two identical engines. One consumes zero oil where with the other one you have to add half a quart of oil every time you fill up.

Default Thanks for the feedback - dealer is now "weighing" the oil to determine consumption..

I'll keep on them.

They are assessing how much oil it eats in 1000KM.

Will report back.

Still love the car - just hope its healthy!
