S3-Maybe

Hi,

im seriously considering buying a 2001 S3 (210 bhp) and was wondering what is different from the TT's 225 bhp engine.

I know the 2002 S3 now comes with 225 bhp, and wondered how they detuned the 2001 version.

ie is it easily reversable? ;o)

260 bhp, but you will loose drivability and may be looking for trouble. Add a new exhaust, such as the "abt" and you can get another 15 to 20 bhp.
There are many places where you can have the S3 chipped in the UK. They normally advertise in the "Audi Driver" magazine.

I have been down to my local, (fairly large) W H Smiths and couldn't find it...

obviously your not in the UK, but you might be able to put me straight!

I thought that the S3 only had one intercooler wheras the 225hp TT has two

The S3 has 2 I/C's, whereas the A3 only has 1.

Don't worry about the 225BHP version - you can easily achieve greater power than that by chipping your car. If you don't want to go that route, cut out the catalytic converter (if you aren't caoncerned about the environment - I wouldn't myself) and put in a high performance airfilter...

Hi,

I ordered a S3 in Oct- last year (import). It was built in the last week of the year (2001). Does this mean it will have the 225bhp motor or still the 210bhp motor.. How can u tell, engine number code etc????
