Hi everybody,
My wife has a 2006 A3 with only 18k miles on it. We bought it new and it is garaged all the time. She drives it short distances - as the mileage indicates.
The other day her Nav Plus screen did not come on when she started the car. I've googled around and saw this was an issue with the TDIs. I read about reseting the MMI (not sure if it applies to Nav Plus), and nothing happened when I tried it.
I've also read that it may be heat related; it has been hot here in Tampa. But trying it in the morning in 70 degree weather hasn't fixed it either.
Thoughts?

Everything else still works, like radio, music thru the SD cards, display of nav info on the dash and nav (if you know how to get to it)?
If so, the screen probably burned out. You have to buy a replacement screen.
You can buy it from guys like rabbit, who lingers around http://audiforum.us/forums/rns-e.40/

LWNY,
Thanks for the info. Tried contacting Rabbit. Sent an email to Haaggie.
Just now I ran the RNS through various functions and everything seems to work.
When I hit setup, I was able to faintly see the menu structure - the option "auto" was just barely visible.
Does it sound like I the backlight? Can I replace it? I'm guessing not, based on what I've read.
So I just contacted someone who sells displays....

The display guy said it sounded like a bulb issue and I could swap out the bulb if I was "technical".
Does minor soldering count as "technical"?
Have any of you done a bulb swap?

depend on how large the solder joints are. if it is a big joint, then it would not be as hard. you better start reading up on unsoldering/soldering techniques and practice on some old boards, or you could find someone to do it for you, maybe some electronic repair shop?
