Default 2007 A3 (8P) 1.8T - What timing belt/chain and when to replace

Hi All,

i have a 2007 Audi A3 (8P) 1.8T - Automatic Sportsback

I was going to get my local mechanic to do a timing belt kit but after inspection he said it had a chain and was not required to be changed/replaced.

I just wanted to clarify if it is a chain or belt and at what kms do you advise on changing it.

Thanks

It's a timing belt. The chain didn't come until 2009.
