2013 A3 -- What and When?
After all the noise Audi made back in March about the 2013 A3, now there is nothing but silence and confusion.
What model will we be getting in the US first, and when?

No confusion.
2013 A3's are a carry over 1 more year with no changes. You can get the same gas and TDI versions as the '12 model for the U.S. market. Dealers already have '13 A3's on order.
2014 is the A3 sedan.
Don't be surprised if 13 A3's are in short supply and early cutoff. Whenever you have a build-out, they ramp down production early.

Now I'm even more confused.
The vastly improved design really is not available now after all. The '13 model is just the same as the '12 model. The new version is still a year away and will be a sedan, not the wagon like model we've seen for several years. I was hoping otherwise.

Scuttlebutt at this point in time is that the MQB A3 sedan will be launched as a MY2014 vehicle likely in the summer of next year (2013). The 2013 Sportback based on current 8P model will be a limited production run.

Now it's to the point where we're getting the Sedan and maybe the Hatch in Electric/Hybrid version a cpl yrs after the Sedan hits. There's been no hint on a possible S3 for us, but I'm crossing fingers, cause that's my next Audi if it makes it here.
The Mexico facility isn't slated to begin production until calendar year 2014 at the absolute earliest. The US spec A3 sedan will start production in Europe. The European MQB A3 Sportback will likely be shown in September and the 2014 sedan either toward the end of the year or more likely in January 2013.

I've got the time to wait out the announcement of a possible S3, since I'll be in My A4 till then anyway. If no S, then an A3 after the initial production year to work out the kinks.
