Sounds good to me! In order to get manual+AWD on my current SUV, I spent ~$45K for a fully loaded BMW X3. I'm OK with a higher price tag in order to get what I want. I'm not OK spending >$40K on an automatic. I'd rather spend $30K and get a manual GTI.

Maybe another Facebook campaign to bring the S3 is in order :-).
I wonder if more people would go for the S3 vs. TT-S/TT-RS? or do you guys think they're not competitors? I prefer 4 (or 5 doors) vs. 2 (or 3), so I wouldn't consider the TT.

Former S4 Avant owner here, i'm really getting tired of Audi not giving us any real options. I'm OK with the twin clutch auto and want a bigger engine than the 2.0T, but what does audi give us? nada.
Q5-regular auto and bigger than I want/need.
Allroad-expensive for a 2.0T auto... at that point i'd suck it up and buy the S4, even without the hatch.
Give me a Q3/SQ3 (Vail might have worked), S3 (hatch), S4 avant... anything that allows me to carry my gear around in a reasonably economical, fun to drive vehicle. I'm not going to drop 50k on a car that's full of compromises. Time to start taking a serious look at the X1 or a Kia.

From a supposedly reliable source:
New A3 release schedule
A3 FWD Sedan: Late Summer/Fall 2013
A3 quattro Sedan: Late Fall/Winter 2013
A3 Cabriolet: Spring 2014
S3 Sedan: Probably Spring 2014
No Sportback in the currently released rollout plan.

S3 Sportback for me
I would trade both my S4 Avant and TTS for one S3 Sportback with six-speed S tronic, dual-clutch transmission. The dual clutch on my TTS works great. It makes conventional manuals old school. Audi USA please make the S3 Sportback available here.

I'll wait for the 2014 A3 sedan. Just test drove a 2013 sport back with $36,000 MSRP. They offered it to me for $33,150 ($2,100 discount plus $750 Audi loyalty)
I passed because they did not have any red A3's. Plus the 2014 A3 sedan looks very nice.
