Hi all. This weekend I welcomed home a new A3. Went to Audi of Oakland Saturday morning, and spent a few hours poking around at the different configurations they had in stock (6 in all). Although they had nothing exactly matching what I wanted, I decided to go with the most expensive one on the lot. With DSG, sliver paint, open sky, Navi, Sound, Premium, etc.. the car ended up at $34,335, which was a bit more than I wanted to pay, but I bought it anyways. So far, all I can say is WOW. The DSG feels great, the car is super fast, and the navigation system is top notch. I have a TTQ 225, and this feels almost just as fast. The only think that bugs me is the lack of Xenon lights. I noticed all the ones at the dealer lot as well as the ones locally at other dealers were void of the Xenon option. I think the dealers all assumed it would have been bundled in with some package, but they guessed wrong. I'm now in the process of finding a kit to retrofit into the A3. I'll post more later, but here are a few pics of my new best friend.

Default How's the interior compare to your TT?

The wife's TT lease is coming up due, but I don't think I'm gonna be able to convince her to get an A3.

Stiff seats, but very nice. Its got that urban lower end luxury feel, but its still nice. Not on par with an A6, but as good as an A4 2.0 in my opinion.

Default If you find a Xenon retro kit, please be sure to share...

I also would like to do that to mine. I also would have liked the Nav+, but I just couldn't wait for the models that had it. Oh well.

Default They sure are expensive....

$35K for a compact? Damn. You do get a lot of goodies (the 2.0T, DSG). The last A3 is drove was a 1.9TDi back in '98. I bet the new model drives much differently and has much more advanced technology. At that price I would prefer an A4 Avant though for the extra room in the trunk.

Default Not really fair to compare against the A4 Avant.

A comparably equipped A4 Avant (2.0T, Tiptronic, Nav+, Xenon, Premium, Sound) stickers for almost $39K.

Of course, you get more room in the cargo area and you get Quattro, but you don't get DSG and you get more weight.

So, like for like, not a fair comparison. And don't get me wrong. I loved my B6 Avant 1.8T. But I now love my A3!

I know you didn't ask, but I'm feeling a little SUVish (sitting up high and all), but the quality and tight feeling is there. Much like the TT, but less like a cokpit.
