6,5,4, are way too high. 3 is ok for about 2 minutes. 2 is great. 1 is too low.

Either gear selection or steering boost selection - true of both

I often jump from 3rd to 5th and then 6th for cruising. 4th a lonely gear;-)

I run 4th to about 6500 and then skip to 6th(only on the track of course)
