I'm thinking about chipping my car with a chip from superchips.co.uk
Has anyone done that too? Is there a real difference in power?
I'm not conserned about the speed, but about the response. I would like to obtain a little more power in the low rotations.
What about Ceramic Power Liquid? I was thinking about that too.
The total increase in hp is (says the dealer) 10 hp from the chip, and 3 hp from Ceramic Power Liquid. It would bring the engine from 125 hp to 138 hp.
Note:
a3_pt is the same that a3_mc (lower question for suspension). I just use two computers and i can't login with the a3_mc account from my second computer.

I don't rate chips highly on non turbo cars - too expensive for the extra go.
My view: get a de-cat pipe (£40)(i.e. lose the catalyst) this gives much better throttle response and a touch more power.
get a panel filter (£40)or induction kit(£80)
then get an exhaust (£250+)(you get sound and cosmetic appeal too)
note - prices approximate as I don't have exact ones to hand.
Chips are good on turbo cars but only give about 8-10% extra on the non turbo car and this power is often high up in the rev range and does not manifest itself as extra low down torque..
Please don't use superchips - i have had and heard of many bad experiences and in all honesty their chips aren't that great. Speak to Scott at AmD in Oxford about their rechips for the 1.8, my car is going there very soon! I'm sure he'll tell you about other options too.
As for your ceramic hob cleaner or whatever - never heard of it, at least not in the context of performance mods!
Enjoy
David

I'd say the only way to get some good low end power is to turbo charge your 1.8, but of course that costs a lot of money. Rip the engine out of an S3 and you'll have some sweet power.
With a good chip and exhaust, on a non-turbo charged engine, you'll be lucky to get 10hp.
