A3 1.8T Intermittent Oil pressure warning
HELP! My 1998 1.8T flashed the oil pressure light for a few seconds today. Stopped and checked oil level that was on lowish end of normal. Filled to half way up and it was fine for about 50 miles then flashed again for few seconds. Stopped and filled to upper limit and drove. Car was fine until accelerating up to 80mph then light flashed again. Have checked oil level with engine hot and cold and it is at upper end of normal.
Left the car for two hours then took for a 10 mile drive, and could not duplicate the fault. It is not making any funny knocking noises, no power loss etc. No signs of oil leak on driveway or engine bay.
Each time I've turned the car on, the diagnostics have reported no problem with oil pressure. Flashing only comes when going at 80mph.
Typically, garage is closed for easter, and car was due for oil change just after easter.
Surely a 'real' problem with oil pressure would show up when diagnostics first come on with ignition?

not at all... that is one of the internal computer functions, (if you have the optional internal computer).. and you can set up to 2 speed limits, so the car warns you with a BEEP and a sign on the display, so you are aware you just passed your self-stablished limit. Take a look at your manual, there they explain it all...
