I/m currenlt waiting for my S3 to arrive (due end of Nov) and got to go out in a 1.8T last week, it was fantastic. Brakes where fantastic, acceleration was good althougn a little week in 4th until you got above 4000 revs. The engine was quite , the ride comfortable and a lot of fun around the bends. So hows the S3 compare ? Anyone ?

The S3 is an A3 1.8T on a bad case of steroids. The handling is better , the engine performance is much better, and the finish inside is better. That's comparing the A3 I took for a test drive. You get 270 Nm of torque (not sure what that converts to in Psi's) from 2100 rpm all the way to 5700rpm, so you'll feel the power cut in, in fourth and even fifth with out any lag.

The S3 is a great little car, and a lot of fun to drive.

I thought the performance of the A3 was pretty good, I cant imagine what it will be like in the s3 you say much better. Im going to find it really hard to take it easy until i get used to the extra power in the S3 over my v.ordinary car.
The only extras Ive gone for are the Bose stereo and CD interchanger, I m well happy with the standard spec.

First of all congratulations on your new S3! I just bought mine 3 weeks ago and the car is just fantastic! Everything works well and the acceleration is just a dream! I'm thinking though to make a chip-tuning next summer on 265hp and a torque of about 370...we'll see!

you said you found the ride comfortable in the A3, the S3 is a bit stiffer so it'll be better round the bends but not as comfortable, so it just depends what you want, also S3 will carry on pulling into the gears where the A3 won't, not much difference inside quality wise just trimmed different and recaros, S3 not as quiet but sometimes I feel the A3 is too quiet, othertimes it's a god send! Where did you order your S3 from? I'm surprised they didn't demo you a car before purchase!

Cheers John. I've ordered an import so no chance of a demo. I knew i wanted the car from being a passenger in the A3 before and driving an A4 1.8T. I went for the S3 to get top performance. So Im unsure what to expect , but if i dont like it ill sell it on. I can't see that happening though. I counting down the days now and trying to get more info of you guys
