Ah, good point. To be totally accurate this dealer's invoice price included PDI and regional dealer association marketing costs.
That added approx $400 dollars to what he called dealer cost, but it still is over $500 back of the published dealer invoice.

Edmunds TMV was about $200 under MSRP when we ordered in January. I haven't checked it since. The 3.2 may have been too new at the time for Edmunds to generate an accurate TMV price.

Unless there is an incentive, there is absolutely no reason for the dealer to lose money (since they aren't a registered charity;-) on the front end of the deal unless they they are making it up somewhere else. It usually depends on dealer inventory and a bunch of unspoken conditions that need to be perfect for a giveaway deal to come together. We often hear about the front end of the deal, but the devil is in the details.
Edmunds TMV is the real deal, if not always up to date or accurate if not many sales are reported for a given area. They get their numbers from contracts, not from random posts on the internet:-)
