Has anybody listened to both the A3 Bose and MK5 GTI sound system? I know Bose doesn't generally make the best systems for cars, but is it at least better than the GTI's? I was really unimpressed with the GTI's system and after installing aftermarket system in my last couple of cars, I'd really like to stick with a decent factory installed system if at all possible.

sounds pretty decent, but there are lots of complaints about the standard sound system in the GTI......
I think that the A3 Bose system is probably better, but that shouldn't be the deciding factor in buying a car.....

when playing techno of some kind. Gets muddy when you've got a bunch of guitars or a orchestra going at once.

The Bose system is awful. Mine only lasted one month. I had new drivers, amp, and sub installed. Much better, more musical sound. Great bass, and completely stealth. See the link below for pics (not my car, but identical system).
If you are budget minded, I thought the stock Concert or Symphony stereo sounded much better.

http://kward1.homestead.com/A3.html</a

Balanced throughout the frequency range...
There is some bias towards like the mid frequencies. In Between 900hz and 2.7khz is very bright. Other than that is rocks

seriously lacking IMO. The in-dash changer was also not to my liking (no mp3 support and slow to operate), but that's probably more of a personal thing.

I found the A3's Bose system to sound better than the stock system in GTI (both with NAV), but I suspect the better sound insulation in the A3 over the GTI may have a lot to do with it.

even compared to the base A3 radio. We rented a GTI with Sirius for a weekend and I swear, it sounded no better than a GM radio from 10 years ago. Really awful.

i am looking to do pretty much what was done to the A3s that you had linked. I have an Xtant 403 amp (2x50 and 1x100) that i will be using. I am looking only for front stage and a sub and these installs seem to have nailed it.
I wonder if avincar can make a sub box as shown with their sub installed? If i was closer to them, it wouldn't be a problem...being in Florida may require some shipping...
integration with the factory head on the Bose system is the main thing for now though.
