Default A3 brakes

About six months ago I traded a 2000 TTQ coupe for a 2006 2.0T A3. I like everything about the A3 except for the brakes. For quick stops it always seem I don't have enough braking power. With the TT I always seemed to have plenty. The A3 has all season tires and the TT had performance tires. Is it me or the A3?

Default Definitely not as strong as the TT. The P6s on the A3 are certainly a weak point, ...

but the extra weight doesn't help either. I'm spoiled by the Brembos and S03s on my TT, so I have SS brake lines and EBC Reds to be put on the A3 next week. We'll see how it goes at Blackhawk Farms next month. (And maybe I'll do enough damage to the P6s to justify replacing them.)

Default Re: A3 brakes

IIRC the disc size on Euro A3's is quite a bit larger for some reason. I may be wrong and havn't checked but I think the Euro one is 315.
This may be part of the problem.

Default US 2.0t and 3.2 get 312mm, which I believe is the same as Euro 2.0t; Euro 3.2 gets 345mm.

Some Euro engines get 280 and 288 mm front rotors.

Default Yep, there is a big difference when I go from our A3 to our A4.

Our A4's brakes feel soooo much better at stopping that car than the A3's brakes at stopping the A3. I have to be careful at how much pressure to apply to the A4's brake pedal.

Change out tires. It helps a lot in many ways from noise to handling.
