I have the factory adaptor. I can't remember who the manufacturer is but...
Yes, it plugs into the bottom of the iPod and acts as a charger. It acts as a second CD changer so you will see disk 1 - 6, each one is for a saved play list. Songs can be skipped from the steering wheel.
A couple of drawbacks are that you don't have the song display and since the iPod is in the glovebox its not a good idea to try to find out while driving. Also, only the first 5 playlists are accessable, the 6th "cd" is saved for random song playing. The part was $150 or so and installation was about 2.5 hours...
