Year to date is still far higher than last year.

Default Re: A3 pricing out of wack and always was

I just priced one out @ $ 43000cdn no quattro. I purchased my 2004 A4 brand new for $ 44,000cdn with Quattro. I know it was 2 years ago but still makes no sense.

Default True, but consider that they didn't start selling until late April of 2005. You would hope that...

2006 YTD would be a lot higher.

Default At least compare same year pricing if you want to do comparisons like that.

I bought a brand new A4 1.8TQM Avant with Sport package in 2002 for $29K USD. I bought my A3 2.0T with Premium, etc. in April of 2005 for $30K USD. Not sure if it's fair to say that it's out of whack because of that.

A more appropriate exercise is to look at 2007 pricing for both the A3 and A4:

A4 2.0T Avant QT w/o options: $33,815 USD
A4 2.0T Sedan QT w/o options: $31,540 USD
A4 2.0T DSG w/o options: $27,270 USD

Granted, the A4s have Quattro, but they don't have DSG.

Or...

A4 2.0T Sedan FWD manual w/o options: $28,240
A3 2.0T manual w/o/options: $25,340

So, comparing to cars in the same model year, A3 pricing doesn't appear to be out of whack.

Default The A4 with similar options to make them almost equal would've cost me only $500 more last year.

Even the salesguy didn't believe me at first but once we started adding it up, it was clear as day.
IIRC, that's because the A4 comes standard with a lot of things, whereas A3 needs a lot more build up.

All car prices are going up, remember when you could buy a Honda Civic less than $15000

Default I for one am glad they allow us to order more basically equipped cars, because I don't

want most of the standard stuff on the A4 anyway. I want good engine, manual trans, power windows/locks, and the whole thing made from nice materials.
