Default A3 Test Drive

I stopped at the local dealer to pick up an oil filter for my A4 and I happened to check out an A3 in the show area. I have been interested in the A3 for some time now. The sales guy let me drive a fairly stripped A3 with DSG. I owned a 3-series with SMG for a couple years and grew very tired of it, and the automatic mode on it was utterly worthless. This was my first experience with DSG. I think I really like it. It was slightly reminiscent of the SMG in that you can hear what I think is the hydraulics and clutch activatiing on shift. Other than that it was real smooth. Nice.
The handling was a different story. I have an A4 2.0T with the Koni/Eibach suspension. This A3 was not bad on tight turns but very unsettled on anything more than that. Sales guy told me to take x curve at about 70 and I just couldn't do it. The confidence just wasn't there with this stock suspension. I am thinking the S-line or an aftermarket set up would cure it though.
Also, it surprised me they are not dealing much with their limited inventory of A3's. They had a **** load of A4's in the lot but just three A3's.

Low volume car, no mktg money behind it. Better bang for buck on close out A4 promo spending by AoA.

Yup. Be interesting to see what happens with '09s.

Default April, any difference in shape/frame/bolsters of 3.2 to 2.0 Premium driver's seat? Do

both sides have the power lumbar support on both these cars for 2006 and 2007? I have not tried the 3.2 seat, but the 2.0 Premium suits me fine and feels more supportive like my S6 seat than the allroad's comfort seats.

Default Sorry, I do not know the seat differences - if it exists. My '06 had power lumber

for the driver only - premium seats.

Does the AW model guide indicate changes?

I thought that all 3.2's have S line seats, with power. No premium package.

(You're no putz!) So, then Premium seat = S line seat = 3.2 seat? Or, is S line seat different?

Default 3.2 seat is 2.0 S Line seat with power adjustments. Power adjust became...

available on the 2.0 S Lines in '08, but was previously available only on the Premium seats, which are much different.

Default I'll make it simple...

The standard (premium) seats are very average. The S-Line seats are much sportier and have big bolsters. I wish they were available in the A4 S-Line....

I'll have to go to a store, I think, to see them together. Thanks.
